Mercedes-AMG E63 S v BMW M5 v Audi RS7 Performance

The Mercedes-AMG E63 S, BMW M5, and Audi RS7 Performance represent the superiority of the Germans when it comes to luxury, high-performance cars. While their brands are constantly battling for the position of the top luxury automaker, each model stands out in its own right. However, what happens if they are pitted against each other in a drag and roll race?

Recently, the guys at Throttle House posted a video via YouTube, taking these cars on track to determine which one has the bragging rights in a no-nonsense, straight-up, triple-threat drag and roll race.

Before getting to the main event, here’s a quick comparison of the three contenders:

Mercedes-AMG E63 S Vs. BMW M5 Vs. Audi RS7 Performance

The AMG E63 S appears to be closely matched with the RS7 in terms of output and weight. The three-pointed star marque’s challenger is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Its key advantage lies in the fact that it’s the lightest compared to its rivals, with a curb weight of 4,497 lbs.

The RS7 Performance also carries a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powertrain. The two have the same torque, but the four-ring emblem’s horsepower is a bit up at 621 hp. In addition, it’s a little heavier than the Merc at 4,916 lbs.

The M5 has the superior numbers in its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with plug-in hybrid infrastructure. It is capable of delivering 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, it’s the heaviest in the bunch with its 5,390 lbs. curb weight.

As expected, the M5 smoked the competition from both the standing and rolling starts of the drag race.

Bonus Race

As a bonus, AMG’s holy grail, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupe, made a special appearance in the video. Basically, it was only introduced to avenge the AMG E63 S against the M5.

Indeed, the M5 was no match for the AMG GT 63 S, as the latter ultimately avenged its sibling.
